Arunachal: PPA wins, BJP wins the Itanagar civic elections Congress is blank as the Pasighat Municipal Council

Results of the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) elections were announced on Saturday, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 14 of the 20 wards. The Congress was unable to open its account in the civic polls, and the result demonstrated the party's strong hold in the state capital. Taru Talo, secretary of the State Election Commission, claims that four BJP candidates were already elected without opposition. Ten seats in the 20-member municipal body were won by female candidates, who also left a lasting impression.

Five of the eight wards in Pasighat were won by the People's Party of Arunachal (PPA) in the Municipal Council elections. An independent candidate won one seat, while the BJP won two. The eight-member council was elected with four female candidates.According to Talo, the Congress was unable to secure a single seat in the Pasighat Municipal Council or the Itanagar Municipal Corporation.

The Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the clear winner, and the entire process was carried out peacefully and without any untoward incidents, according to Deputy Commissioner of Itanagar Toko Babu, who spoke after the counting process was finished. He attested to the fact that no complaints or disturbances were reported during the counting.

The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) won two of the remaining IMC seats, the Nationalist Congress Party won three, and an independent candidate claimed one. Both the Itanagar and Pasighat civic elections were conducted using Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

Votes for the panchayat elections are still being counted in the interim. Results are anticipated to take longer because ballot papers are being used for 1,947 gram panchayat member seats and 186 zilla parishad member seats, according to the SEC official.On December 15, elections for panchayats and civic bodies were conducted concurrently throughout Arunachal Pradesh.
